Who inherits, and how much?

Answer one question at a time about the deceased, the estate and the relatives alive at the moment of death. You get each heir’s share as a fraction, a percentage and (if you want) an amount — with the rule and its source behind every line. Confirm the final division with Darul Ifta Ahle Sunnat.

Adopted children, step-children, in-laws and foster relatives are not heirs, so they are not asked about. They can be given something only through a lifetime gift or a wasiyyat of up to one third. Someone who is also a blood relative (for example an adopted nephew) is counted under that blood relation.
