FAQ

Frequently asked questions

About the assistant, its sources and your account.

Where do the answers come from?

From a curated library of approved books, fatawa and recorded lectures that have been ingested and indexed. Nothing else is consulted and it does not search the open web — the one exception is the minimum mehar, which is worked out from the live silver price.

Does it give its own opinion?

No. It reports what it finds in the sources and cites them. Where the library does not cover a question, it says so instead of answering anyway.

Should I rely on this for a ruling?

Treat it as a way to find the relevant passages quickly, not as a substitute for a qualified scholar. The citations are there so you can read the original and, where it matters, take it to someone qualified.

Which languages can I use?

English, Urdu and Roman Urdu. The answer is written in the language of your question — a question in Roman Urdu gets a Roman Urdu answer. The interface is fully translated into English and Urdu, including right-to-left layout.

Can I check a source myself?

Yes — that is the intent. Book citations give the title and page range; lecture citations link to the exact moment in the video.

What does it cost?

It is free to use. Each account has a daily usage budget — longer questions and answers use more of it — so the service stays available to everyone. The budget resets every day at midnight UTC, which is 5 a.m. in Pakistan.

Which school of thought does it follow?

The library is made of Sunni works, and most of them follow the Hanafi school. Some sources also discuss masail of other schools, so an answer can occasionally include them. Every answer cites its source, so you can always see which book it came from.

I follow the Shafi'i, Maliki or Hanbali school. Can I use it?

Yes, but keep in mind that most sources are Hanafi. Open the cited book or fatwa to see exactly what it says, and confirm with a scholar of your own school before acting on it.

Is it affiliated with Dawat-e-Islami?

No. It is an independent project. Most of the library comes from Dawat-e-Islami's published books, the fatawa of Darul Ifta Ahle Sunnat and their recorded lectures, and every one of them is credited and linked to where it was published.

What is in the library, and does it grow?

Books, fatawa and recorded lectures. New sources are added over time, and the library page always lists everything the assistant can answer from.

Can it make mistakes?

Yes. It can misread a passage or pick a less relevant one. That is why every answer cites its source — read the original before relying on an answer, and ask a qualified mufti about your own situation.

Why does it sometimes say it could not find an answer?

Because the library does not cover every question. When the passages it finds do not answer yours, it says so rather than guessing.

Do I need an account?

To ask questions, yes — a free account with email or Google. The library and topic pages are open to everyone.

Who can see my chats?

Only you. Chats are saved to your account so you can return to them. If you create a share link for a chat, anyone with the link can read it until you turn sharing off.

Can I delete my chats or my account?

Yes. You can delete any chat. You can also delete your account from settings; signing in again within 30 days restores it.

Can I install it on my phone?

Yes. It can be installed like an app on Android, iPhone and desktop — see the install page for steps.

Can I search only one book or programme?

Yes. Open the "Search in" menu under the message box and pick a source — Fatawa Razawiyya, Bahar-e-Shariat, Darulifta Ahlesunnat fatawa, Sirat ul Jinan, Miraat-ul-Manajeeh, Ihya ul Uloom, Madani Muzakra or Darulifta Ahlesunnat videos — or books or videos only. The same menu can limit the sources to Urdu or English. Naming a source in your question ("Fatawa Razawiyya mein…") narrows the search too.

What is research mode?

Some books in the library are kept for research and are left out of everyday answers. Turning on research mode in the "Search in" menu includes them and puts them first. Leave it off for everyday questions.

Can I share an answer with someone?

Yes. Use Share on a chat to create a read-only link to the whole conversation. Anyone with the link can read it, including messages you add later, until you stop sharing. Shared chats are kept out of search engines.

Can I ask in Roman Urdu?

Yes. Write the way you would in a message — "namaz e janaza ka tareeqa kya hai?" — and the answer comes back in Roman Urdu. Questions in Urdu script get Urdu answers, and English questions get English answers.

How do I find the minimum mehar?

Open the mehar calculator: it works out 10 dirham of silver (30.618 g) at the live silver price, in PKR and USD. If you ask about mehar in the chat, the current minimum is shown with the answer. This silver price is the only outside data the site uses.

Can I find a lecture by its date?

Yes. Say when in your question — "last month's Madani Muzakra", "2025 ka madani muzakra" or a Hijri month such as "Rabi ul Awwal 1448 ka madani muzakra" — and only lectures recorded in that period are searched. Dates apply to lectures, not books.
