How it is calculated

1The least mehar in the Hanafi school is 10 dirham of silver.
210 dirham = 30.618 grams of silver (2 tola 7½ masha).
3Minimum mehar = 30.618 g × today's silver price per gram.
4Mehar can be any amount above this — there is no upper limit.

Prices use the international silver spot rate, converted to PKR at the current USD exchange rate. Local bazaar (sarafa) rates in Pakistan can differ slightly, so before a nikah it is sensible to check the local rate on the day.
