Imamat ke Masail — Congregation and Imamate

A Fatawa Razawiyya answer states that the person most entitled to lead a congregation is the one who knows the most about the rulings of prayer and purity, provided he pronounces the letters correctly enough that the prayer is not spoiled and is neither a fasiq nor of corrupt belief. Fundamental Teachings of Islam lists conditions for an imam, including correct belief, adulthood, sanity, being male and correct recitation.
