Bahar-e-Shariat explains that if someone offers more than one qurbani, all are valid, one being wajib and the rest nafl, and that sacrificing a whole cow counts entirely as wajib; it then outlines the method briefly. Why Do We Perform Qurbani? notes that dividing the meat into three parts, for oneself, relatives and the poor, is mustahab.
